Atlanta Wine School Inaugural Sessions Begin September, 2004

Atlanta Wine Schools (AWS) mission is to provide an institution devoted to understanding and appreciating wine in Atlanta. AWS is bringing forth very knowledgeable instructors and guest speakers to provide the most in-depth experiences, offering knowledge-attainment, appreciation and entertainment.

Atlanta, GA August 5, 2004 -- This September, Atlanta Wine School opens its doors. Atlanta Wine Schools (AWS) mission is to provide an institution devoted to understanding and appreciating wine in Atlanta. AWS is bringing forth very knowledgeable instructors and guest speakers to provide the most in-depth experiences, offering knowledge-attainment, appreciation and entertainment.

AWS is founded by Connect With Wine owner/operator, Michael Bryan. Connect With Wine is an Atlanta-based organization that caters to nearly 12,000 Atlantans through events and in its monthly published commentary on the world of wine, News & Happenings.

2004 Course Offerings
Introduction to Wine: the flagship class of the Atlanta Wine School. This six-week diploma course will provide a firm foundation on history, knowledge of grapes and grape growing, wine-making, global production areas, systematic tasting processes, ones ability to identify and decipher tasting descriptors, as well as a host of other topics. Each class will include a tasting of five wines, typically tied to the region of discussion. This course begins the week of September 13 and runs through the week of October 19. Students can choose from two class options: Mondays, Class I students will meet from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Violette Restaurant on Clairmont Road off of I-85 in the heart of Atlanta; Tuesdays, Class II students will meet from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Pampas Steakhouse on State Bridge Road in Alpharetta. The fee for the course is $329 or $299 for reservations made by August 31. An additional 5% discount will be offered to Connect With Wine News & Happenings subscribers.

The World of Reds: from old-vine Carignanes in the South of France to smoky Chilean Malbecs, discussions and tastings will touch on the worlds red wine producing regions, their unique terroir, and wine-making styles. Each class will include wine samplings. This two-week course will be offered Thursday, October 14th and October 21st from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Anthonys Restaurant on Piedmont Road in the heart of Buckhead. The fee for the course is $99 or $79 for reservations made by September 30. An additional 5% discount will be offered to Connect With Wine News & Happenings subscribers.

Holiday Food and Wine Pairings: discussions will include optimal matching of food and wine combinations, entertaining tips and hints, and choosing artisanal cheeses. Each class will include food and wine tastings. This two-week course will be offered the Mondays of November 8th and November 15th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Anthonys Restaurant on Piedmont Road in the heart of Buckhead, Georgia. Or choose Tuesdays, November 9th and November 16th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Pampas Steakhouse on State Bridge Road in Alpharetta. The fee for the course is $125 or $99 for reservations made by October 31. An additional 5% discount will be offered to Connect With Wine News & Happenings subscribers.

Most classes will be limited to 20 students. Instructors and guest speakers are seasoned, credentialed instructors employed in the wine and culinary trades.
